The completion of the Talmage Residence Hall and University Commons project in 2011 marked Heidelberg University’s first new facility in 45 years. This complex includes a 120-bed residence hall alongside a 9,000 sq. ft. student commons, which functions as its own separate space. The commons area offers a cafe pub, a spacious great room for large gatherings, study rooms, and an outdoor dining patio.
Designed primarily for sophomores, the hall is divided into five two- story “pods,” each accommodating 24 students. Within these pods, there are 12 students per floor, residing in bedrooms surrounding an open two-story living and gathering space. This communal area features a balcony, loft seating, a fully equipped kitchen, and dedicated study spaces, all aimed at reinforcing the university’s academic mission.
