Project Overview

Completed in 2011, the Talmage Residence Hall and University Commons marked Heidelberg University’s first new facility in 45 years, setting a new standard for campus living and community. This dynamic complex features a 120-bed residence hall alongside a 9,000-square-foot student commons, designed as a vibrant social and academic hub.

The student commons includes a café pub, a spacious great room ideal for large gatherings, private study rooms, and an inviting outdoor dining patio with a wide range of opportunities for students to relax, connect, and focus.

Designed primarily for sophomores, the residence hall is organized into five two-story “pods,” each housing 24 students. Each pod features 12 bedrooms per floor, arranged around an open, two-story living space with a balcony, loft seating, a fully equipped kitchen, and dedicated study areas—cultivating a welcoming environment that supports both social interaction and academic success.
