With a campus consisting of only two buildings at present, this new residential development represents the first-ever on-campus housing project for Calumet College. The project features traditional dorm-style living units in distinct yet similar buildings over multiple phases to unify the construction with its surroundings at CCSJ.
Calumet College of St. Joseph is emblematic of Catholic Church teachings and instruction, which is why the proposed phased residential community draws heavy inspiration from secular Christian architecture. In particular, the architectural organization of the student housing facilities embodies principles derived from early Christian basilicas, which provides a large expansive vessel where congregations gather to pray and worship. These spaces serve as a focal gathering spot for the surrounding community to come together to learn and grow.
